God loves the humble and the low,
He dines with them, where sinners go.
He sides with them, He took their place,
He lifts them from their forced disgrace.
He’ll use the weak to shame the strong,
Because they’ve known it all along:
The secret is to be in need–
Oppression’s cuff is justice’s seed.
Repentance paves the road on high;
Before you live, your pride must die.
His city fills with needy saints,
Restored, at peace, no longer faint.
Unending rest is all they know,
His table full, where sinners go.
